Time to be honest with all of you. I am in a diaper funk let me explain . We cloth diaper and for the last week my son has been in paper diapers. I don't know why this has happened we have a nice stash. In fact I just made a trade for a Blueberry minky os pocket. Let me tell you this things is so soft I could just pet it all day.
Part of the problem could be that Nolan has started acting out during changes. He bucks and moves around its a real struggle to snap a diaper. The other thing could be I have no CD loving friends in town am all alone in my fluff love.
I have even thought about selling off my stash. Please tell me this will pass and selling the stash is not the answer.

selling the stash is not the answer! Think of the money you're throwing into the landfill! Think of the plastic your great-great-great grandchildren will have to deal with because those diapers don't biodegrade! Think of the chemicals his poor little scrotum is being exposed to every day! Think of the early toilet learning! Think of the thought of wearing Depends 24/7 instead of cotton underpants! I've got your back, Sara, I totally get the cloth love!
ooo... i remember those days of the diaper-change revolt.
i took the opportunity to teach judah two things:
1. some sweet wrestling moves with him on the receiving end, while i yell in his ear #2:
2. i'm the dad, sucka-fool! don't you ever forget it! who's your dad?! I AM! and I'M CHANGING THIS DIAPER... SO HOLD STILL! now... do you see how i'm putting you in the boston crab? damn straight.
so you should tell nolan one of two things:
1. not to mess with judah.
2. come up with a good way to get out of the boston crab.
he's the man.
and now loves to get his diapers changed.
[don't worry... it passes...]
Found your blog as I was surfing for new article info and I had to stop and comment. This same thing just happened to me so I can totally relate. Give yourself some time, maybe get (another) new diper or two and relax. I wrote about my experience here: http://clothdiapernews.com/?p=64
Also an idea for the distracted or protesting baby, hang a wind chime over the changing area (table or bed) and ring it during the change. It helps to keep them still while you get the diaper situated. Good luck!
This is when I started giving Maddie toys or books during changes. Whatever would keep the attention for a moment. I don't think it's any better with disposables...they might be a tiny bit faster, but my squirmer always ended up with the dipe on only one butt cheek, so we had to redo it anyway...so I wouldn't sell the stash. We went to disposables full time around a year and went back in a month to cloth.
i still vote Boston Crab.
don't sell your diapers! i am positive you would regret it.
i'm not sure if you were looking for advice on the "squirmy-ness" of diaper changes....but here's mine. :)
i take that time to run through all the words judah knows with him. it's all about the distraction for us. "what does a dog say?" "what does a train say?" "judah, can you say mama?" and so on. it's good practice for him, gives us some interaction, and we get the diaper change done.
and if i'm using a diaper that requires a snappy, then i let him hold that until i need it. i think it is some kind of novelty to him. :)
that's the way MOM does it...
DAD does the Boston Crab.
