I recommend going to priceline & finding something downtown. We stayed at the Days Inn for $50/night a few years ago. It wasn't fancy, but it was clean and really close to everything and parking was free.
This will give you an idea of what kind of price and what hotel you might expect to get from priceline. I use it all the time when bidding.
Probably 100 - 130 for a 4* hotel. The 3* hotels won't really be downtown, but more on the outskirts, probably toward the needle or toward Bellevue. If you don't mind not being right downtown, I suggest the Embassy Suites as we recently stayed at the one at Washington Square...and let me say that with kids it's WONDERFUL! The rooms are very nice. You have 2 rooms, a nice indoor pool, a great hot breakfast in the morning, and usually an evening reception that includes drinks and snacks. The one that would best serve you is near Bellevue, but it's very convenient to the freeway, Seattle would be maybe a 10 minute drive. Free parking at the hotel! And It runs about 120.
